Expert in human rights law

Hari Singh is a principal, immigration law specialist, notary public and founder of HS Law Solicitors and Notaries in West London, near Hayes.

Education and training

Mr Singh studied at various universities/institutions in the United Kingdom and abroad. He holds the following qualifications:

 LL.M (London); M.A in advanced legal practice (with commendation) (Westminster)
Postgraduate diploma in notarial practice (Cambridge)
Postgraduate diploma in legal practice (TVU)
Postgraduate diploma in law (TVU)

He has had the privilege to attend the lectures of the 1993 summer session on ‘Public International Law’ organised by The Hague Academy of International Law, The Hague, the Netherlands. He also attended the 1994 general and specialised courses in 'European Community Law' organised by the Academy of European Law, European University Institute, Florence, Italy.

Mr Singh trained at Sheikh & Co Solicitors in London; at the time a leading immigration law firm in the country, qualifying in January 2001 and working for them until February 2002. He subsequently joined JR Jones Solicitors in Ealing where he was assigned the position of head of the immigration department in May 2004.

Independent practice

In August 2006, Mr Singh left JR Jones Solicitors and set up his own practice in Greenford. Following on from the success in his Greenford Practice he set up a branch office of HS Law Solicitors and Notaries in Southall. In August 2011, both offices were consolidated in a move to larger premises in Southall Broadway.

Mr Singh was appointed Member of the Law Society’s Immigration Law Panel by the Law Society of England and Wales on 1st February 2003 until the end of his term of office in 31st January 2006.

He had been accredited at level 2, as senior caseworker of the Specialist Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme of the Solicitors Regulation Authority. He was also a duty solicitor on the rota of Harmondsworth Fast-Track until 31 January 2006 after the scheme was introduced by the Legal Services Commission.

Specialist areas of practice

He practices in all areas of immigration, nationality, asylum and points based system including family-reunion, marriage applications, entry clearance, EU residence permits/documents, human rights and appeals.
He is committed, dedicated, and has a strong belief in immigration and human rights law. He is well-known for his lateral approach to problem-solving and hard work he puts into preparing his clients’ cases. He is committed to providing his clients with an excellent service and firm advice about the prospect of success. He has extensive experience of representing clients at all levels of the system including the First-tier Tribunal, high court and Court of Appeal.

Mr Singh was appointed as a notary public by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2004. His notarial work mainly involves the authentication of documents and facts for use overseas. These can relate to a wide range of activities including property transactions, commercial transactions, administrating of affairs of people who have died, court proceedings and immigration.

Mr Singh is a long-standing member of various professional bodies/organisations in the United Kingdom, including fellow of the Institute of African Alternatives, London.

Recent accreditations/community work

Mr Singh has been honoured by the Indian Overseas Congress (UK) on the occasion of the 61st Indian Independence Day celebrations in London for his outstanding contribution to the society. On 22nd August 2011, he was honoured by the British Indian Councillors Association (UK) for his outstanding contribution to the Indian community. On 5th April 2013, he was honoured by the International Hindi Society (UK) for his services to the community. On 30th May 2013, he was honoured by the Indian International Foundation Award of achievement for judiciary/law. He has also been honoured by the Mayor of Ealing for his support to his official charities Age Concern Ealing and Ealing Association for the Blind. He was school governor at Villiers High School from 2013 - 2015, and author of 'Looking Back With Delight: A Memoir'.


In his memoir, Looking Back With Delight, Hari Singh revisits his life as a civil servant at the High Commission of India in London, his qualification as a solicitor and his experiences in the legal profession.

What shines from the pages of this book is the sheer determination of Hari to make the most of his life and to achieve his ambitions. This book will take you from laughter to tears, with the message that one should continue with one’s struggle until the goal is achieved. It is a very human story told with insight.


Mr Singh has also been involved in many charities particularly ‘British Heart Foundation (UK)’, ‘Scope UK’ and 'Cancer Research (UK)'.
